Straps for the Fuel Cell
I built some sweet looking straps for the new fuel cell today. Originally I had a 25 gallon fuel cell but after seeing other cars at the 2016 SCORE Baja 1000, I decided to shrink down to a 16 gallon fuel cell.
CV Joint Upgrades
VW Bug cv joints keep the wheels turning as the car soaks up the bumps. Most people upgrade them to "type 2" CV joints which are the ones found on the classic Volkswagan Van or Bus. Turns out Type II joints move about 22 degrees. Type IV are the same size as the Type II but move 27 degrees. Using Type IV joints means my axles can move 5 degrees more than the typical upgrade. They Type IV joints were used on the station wagon (Type IV), the VW Thing (Type 181) and several Porsche models like 928, 944 and others.
